The Reverend Matthew Bruns

Born and raised in Auckland, I left in my early 20s to spend two years overseas in the UK and travelling Europe. I was initially reluctant to come home, but it worked out well as this is where I met my wife, Rachel. We have three young children, Evie, Amara and Thea, who are teaching us why sleep deprivation has been used as an effective form of torture!

I love soccer and quite like playing guitar (in the privacy of my own room), and hanging out with family and friends. I also love smoothies, but not cats or salmon.

I’ve had a varied career, working in both radio and as a youth educator in high schools before becoming the youth worker at St Paul’s Church in Auckland. After studying theology at St Johns and Otago University, I was ordained a Priest in 2012. After two years as a curate at St Andrews Epsom I am excited to take on the role of Vicar here, leading the team at St Philip's.

The Reverend Matthew Griffiths

I was born and raised in Auckland in an Anglican Family.  After leaving high school, I attended The University of Auckland and completed a BA/BCom, majoring in English and Marketing.  I worked in telecommunications for three years.  I retrained in 1997 as a teacher and taught English in several schools.  My last teaching post was at Tamaki College in Glen Innes.  It was at Tamaki that my call to ordination became very real.  I had a sense that God had been calling me to ordination for some time and, prayerfully, I tested that call, and was discerned to train for ordination in 2013.

I am blessed to be married to Terrena and am also a proud father to Emily and Thomas.  Both are impressive young adults and Terrena and I are excited to see what their future will be.
