ST PHILIP'S
ANGLICAN CHURCH

St Heliers Bay / Glendowie

On 13th May our worship was themed around the issue of Fair Trade. In his sermon, Michael spoke about the need to create a fair and level playing field for farmers in the developing world to do business. Following the service people had an opportunity to purchase a variety of products at cost prices (coffee, sugar, chocolate and even soap).

Fair trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of marginalised producers and workers.

Fair Trade Organisations raise awareness of Fair Trade and the possibility of greater justice in world trade. They provide their customers with information about the organisation, the products, and in what conditions they are made. They use honest advertising and marketing techniques and aim for the highest standards in product quality and packing.
